This is Lockon ,candidate from China , I ‘ve taken ielts on 9th May this year (got 6 in reading ). Just now , I finished a reading test in cambridge ielts 7.  I find reading more and more difficult because I have to read more and match more items in the whole passage . Compared with cambridge ielts 4/5/6, 60 minutes are not enough anymore .
I’m going to take ielts the day after tomorrow , any suggestion ? Thank you .

I’m not sure if I understand what you mean when you say Cambridge IELTS 7 is more difficult than Cambridge IELTS 4/5/6 and that 60 minutes is no longer enough time.

I agree that 20 minutes for each reading passage is not very long which is why you need to develop reading strategies which help you to locate the relevant part of the text quickly in order to answer each individual questions.

My general advice is to skim read the text once just to get a general idea of what it’s about. This should only take 2-3 minutes. Then read the questions and underline the key words and phrases which relate to the text. Then, go back to the text and find the relevant paragraph for each question. Read that paragraph/section of the text again in more detail in order to answer the question.

If you’re not sure, don’t waste too much time on one question. Leave it and go on to the next one. If you have time at the end, go back to the questions that you were doubtful about and if you’re still not sure, have a guess. Don’t leave any questions unanswered.
