Question:Do u take after ur father?
Answer:yes, i am a chip of the old block   or  
        no,i am a black sheep
       
          yes, i resemble my father in terms of appearance     or
          no as far as resemblance is concerned i look like my mother

Hi Mehrad,

The first one is ok except it should be “chip off the old block” and it means you are like your father in character and/or appearance.

The second one is not appropriate because “the black sheep of the family” usually means that you are different to your brothers or sisters in a negative way. For example, you are the one who always gets into trouble or perhaps you are the only one who didn’t pass any exams at school. It is not normally used to refer to appearance.
