Hi, I am gonna take my IELTS exam in 3 weeks and I heard that the writing section is the hardest part because of the small amount of time given. I just wanna know what kind of questions do they usually give for essay. Are there charts or pies on the test that you need to write an essay? Please help.

Thanks

Hi,

The General Training Writing paper has a different Task 1 question to the Academic Writing paper.

In the General Training Task 1 you are required to write a letter in response to a given situation. There is no visual information such as tables or graphs.

However, the time limit (20 minutes) and the word count (150) is the same for both papers.

The Task 2 question is also the same for both papers - a discursive essay on a general topic (250 words - 40 minutes)

I hope this answers your question. Sorry for the delayed response.

Best wishes,

Jenny
