Most difficult thing?

Dear candidates,

I am busy writing new material for the speaking modules and I am interested in learning what you find most difficult in your preparation for the speaking test or just speaking English in general?

Here are a few suggestions:

Vocabulary - finding the right word or phrase to express what I want to say.
Grammar - making mistakes with verb tenses
Pronunciation - people don’t always understand my accent
Fluency - trying to sound natural by speaking more quickly

If any of these problems sound familiar or you have other difficulties that you would like to share and get advice on, please write and tell me!

Hello everyone.
My name is Bïa and I’m Algerian. I’m preparing for my IELTS test which I plan to take in June. As many of you know, the best way to prepare is sometimes working with another person as this will help you: exchange your knowledge,proofread for each other and also it keeps willing to achieve more as you have a company and are not alone.
So I’m really interested to keep in touch with students in this website as you can contact me. We can, for example, create a skype live discussion with small groups and discuss some speaking and writing topics during weekends..
I’m really looking forward to hearing from you all.

Section for Reading and listening?

Hey,

I just noticed that there is no section for Reading and Listening problems and tips. If you ask me, reading section is the most difficult for every student. So, I think there should be one section for it, too.

Improve vocabulary

Well, I know one way to improve vocab is to look for synonyms of the common words. But, my problem is how to remember all those words? I tend to forget some words and I think that’s why I got less bands in writing task of my exam.

So, what do you suggest?

How far pronunciation important in IELTS test.Should I reduce myown native accent before I appear for the test ? I have tried but finds it difficult.It is something that can not be achieved in a few months.How do you guide me ?

Competition Winner!

Dear Members,

We are pleased to announce Navi from India as the winner of the September/October writing competition. You can find Navi’s entry here on the forum under the Thread ‘Another chance to win a Key Membership’ (posted 29 October).

Navi’s answer was well-structured with good use of paragraphs and a clear introduction and conclusion. He used a good range of vocabulary and demonstrated strong grammatical control with very few errors.
The content is relevant and his argument is consistent and supported by personal examples and opinions.
